FBLA Attends Spring Conference at Longwood University

On Tuesday, March 16, 2010, Park View High’s FBLA chapter joined many other schools for the Longwood Region FBLA Conference. At the conference, some students competed in events, ran for regional offices, for the 2010-2011 school year, and others attended workshops. Some of the workshops included Leadership 101, The Effective Student, Professionalism, and a few others. Before attending the workshops and competing in events, the regional FBLA, listened as Jack Berry, the President of the Richmond Metropolitan convention and Visitors Bureau, talked about aptitude vs. attitude. He gave a great speech and really got the members involved. Next, the members running for next year’s regional offices gave their campaign speeches. Congratulations to all who won, especially to our own Park View High student, Tiara (TJ) Baskerville who will be the FBLA Regional Vice President for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year. After the workshops, competitions, and voting had been done, the FBLA members enjoyed a fabulous dining experience in Longwood’s on campus dining hall. We all received a little a little first-hand college experience! Once dining was over, the members met one last time to announce the top three place winners in each event, and also the new Regional Officers. Some of the events that were available to compete in were: Impromptu Speaking, Job Interview, Public Speaking I and II, Computer Applications, and many others. The Longwood Regional Spring Conference proved to be a huge success filled with learning and great fun.
